I also downloaded Camtasia 3.1 about a year ago. Previously I had been using version 2.X. I should probably upgrade to version 6 at some stage as I've not been able to get 3.1 working under vista very well. I've been using version 3.1 for producing my CodeRage III videos.

Yeah, I think Camtasia 6 just came out. I've used CamStudio before, it is pretty good. Another one worth checking out is Jing http://www.jingproject.com – it is really nice, but has very limited editing functionality. As a plus it only publishes to SWF, the CodeRage format.

Ok, they didn't update all web pages then. When I looked today for the registration of 3.1 it said “please try Version 5.0 “

Camtasia 6.0 is the latest version. It got released in November 2008.

There is also the free CamStudio (http://camstudio.org) which can be used for simple things.
