Technically Atozed Software was a client of mine. I am runnning my own IT consulting business since 2004 and Atozed was one of my (bigger) clients since then.

After about 4 years of working with passion mainly on IntraWeb, which I still love and see as the best Web application framework for Delphi, I came to a point where technical innovation became more and more complicated with IntraWeb. Many new ideas were not easy to implement, as there are many road blocks because of historical reasons. A total rewrite would be a logical consequence, but that idea had no financially viable chance.

A while ago I got the offer to lead a totally new project. It was really a hard decision to take that offer and to discontinue my direct relationship with Atozed Software.

From August 1st, I’ll work on something new. It will be an exciting product and I’ll start blogging about this new project as soon as I have at least white papers and some early demos.

Don’t worry though!

My new project is still on Delphi, so I’m not going to leave the Delphi community.

I will continue to offer support and training for IntraWeb. If you need Delphi or IntraWeb assistance, on- or off-site, then just contact me.

I will cooperate with the IntraWeb Resource Center (IRC), which is a website offering support for Delphi Web application development. IRC is a place where you will find additional IntraWeb learning materials and information about IntraWeb support and training opportunities.

My old location at blogs.atozed.com was originally meant to be a central place for all Atozed bloggers. For some reason I remained the only person using that blog space.

The blog engine used there is IntraWeb Studio a Content Management System (CMS) of Atozed Software. It works quite good, esp. for Websites, but for a blog I always found it a bit, well sluggish. To get a new post published or edited you have to fire up a special client.

TMS software is technology partner of Atozed Software. They are together with Arcana Technologies our most important 3rd party vendor of IntraWeb / VCL for the Web components. They are producing great components – one of the most outstanding ones is certainly their Advanced Web Grid. Their products help us promoting our own product – Thank you for your continuous support of the VCL for the Web!

During the last years I always enjoyed working with Bruno and his team. When we had some technical issues, let it be we broke TMS’ components, by changing an interface or vice versa, we just emailed or talked personally via Skype and got the problems solved – faster and more efficiently than blogging first …

Most members of the community have been doing business with TMS
Software for over 10 years and the experience has been nothing like one
could guess from the already mentioned postings. I would like to post
about these experiences that I had. Maybe those descriptions will erase
the other blog posts from your mind – as the internet is relentless and
all “information” will stay for a long time to come as it seems and it
is really bad for somebody to get a bad review and no word from
happy customers or business partners.

Arcana Technologies, an Atozed Software partner, known for their excellent IntraWeb add-ons, releases a couple of IntraWeb components under an Open Source license quite a while ago.

This component pack includes more than 15 componets. Some examples:

• ArcIWScreenInfo
  A non-visual component that returns size, position and color
  information about the user’s browser window. 
• ArcIWToolWindow
  This component provides a
  floating tool window for your IW pages. Inside the tool window you can
  place any html code, a pdf document, another html page.
• ArcIWPageController
  - This is a non-visual component that gives you more control over your
  webpage. You can disable right-clicking and text selection and may other things.
• PayPal controls
  Add PayPal functionallity such as “Donate”, “PayPal Cart” etc to to your IntraWeb application.

Participation or contribution to this project was not easy though, as there was no Website for these components where
you could add your ideas and suggestions.

Bundled IntraWeb Versions

What Delphi version includes what IntraWeb Version and what IntraWeb versions
are available as free update.

• Delphi 7 includes IntraWeb 5.0
  Free updates are available up to href="http://www.atozed.com/IntraWeb/Download/Files/Archives/51.en.iwp">Version
  5.1.30

• Delphi 2005 includes IntraWeb 7.2
  Free updates are available up to href="http://www.atozed.com/IntraWeb/Download/Files/Archives/72.iwp">Version

• BDS 2006 includes IntraWeb 8.0
  Free updates are available up to href="http://www.atozed.com/IntraWeb/Download/Files/Borland.iwp">Version

License Keys

All IntraWeb downloads offered by Atozed Software are Evaluation
Versions and require a license key to be unlocked. If you want to
update for free (as user of Delphi 7, 2005 or BDS 2006), then you have to
register for a free license key. Just follow the instructions on the href="http://www.atozed.com/IntraWeb/go.aspx?DocId=6827">License Key
page.

Evaluation version after updating

If you updated your IntraWeb version and it says “Evaluation Version” then
there are these possible reasons:

• No license key
  You updated D7, D2005 or BDS 2006, but you never entered
  a license key. See href="http://www.atozed.com/IntraWeb/go.aspx?DocId=6827">here how to
  receive a license key.
• Wrong license key
  You entered the free license key you received with
  typos. Please be sure that you do not modify the license key in any way. Do
  not add/remove line breaks or spaces.
• Expired license key
  You purchased a license key, but its maintenance
  term expired in the meantime. License keys can be used for all IntraWeb
  version that were released during the maintenance term of your key. Check when
  you purchased and compre to the release date. Renewals are available at
  discounted rates!

After a lot of tests IntraWeb version 8.0 was finally released today. For the
impatient: href="http://www.atozed.com/intraweb/download/Files/Borland.iwp">Download
IntraWeb 8.0 (~15MB)

This new version has a new installer that works for all Delphi
versions. Borland Developer Studio 2006 users need some more patience
though, this is not yet included in the setup (but an early version of IntraWeb
8.0 is shipped with BDS 2006 anyway)

One of the goals was to keep IW 8.0 compatible with version 7.2, so that the
upgrade will be as painless as possible. The most important new “feature” is
Performance. In the past there have been added a lot of new features,
but unfortunately the trade-off was slower speed. IW 8.0 is the fastest IntraWeb
ever  - I guess

updates, which are not listed in the Whats New section, most of these can be
